Cuirass
Today in Art History, we were studying this sculpture of Augustus with Cupid riding a dolphin by his side. Each piece of art that we study on the projector comes with a series of questions to help us analyze the work.
Ms. Gaines: What is a cuirass? (pronounced queer-ass)
Mark: [lol’s] A what??
Ms. Gaines: A cuir…ass.
[the entire class busts out laughing]
Ms. Gaines: Okay, if you guys can’t be mature enough to hear that word and not laugh, you’re gonna laugh even harder when I ask the next question!
Class: What is it?
Ms. Gaines: Beside Augustus of Primaporta is cupid. What does this little puta riding a dolphin symbolize?
Class: LOL!!
